South Dakota is an amazing state! One of the things that makes us special is the nine tribes that share our geography and the Native American culture that is part of who we are as South Dakotans. In 1990, South Dakota was the FIRST state to recognize the second Monday of October as Native Americans’ Day or Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Not sure where to start? Here are 5 suggestions for experiencing Native American culture in South Dakota: 1. Visit the Dignity Statue. Stopping in Chamberlain to see “Dignity” by Artist Laureate, Dale Lamphere is a must for all South Dakotans! 2. Visit a Museum. There are many excellent cultural museums in South Dakota. Akta Lakota Museum & Cultural Center in Chamberlain: More Information: http://aktalakota.stjo.org/ 4. Visit an Outdoor Historical Site. South Dakota is full of history and beautiful views here are just a few of our staff picks: -Bear Butte, Sturgis -Wind Cave, Hot Springs -Sica Hollow, Sisseton -Turtle Effigy, Pierre 5. Visit the Crazy Horse Memorial and Museum. More Information: https://crazyhorsememorial.org/visit/special-events/

This is an example of chromatography. I used two pieces of filter paper: one with a smilie face drawn in black Mr. Sketch and a hole poked in it, and the other rolled up and inserted through the hole. When placed in water, the water moved up through the rolled paper into the one with the design, causing the colors to separate. Due to the characteristics of Mr. Sketch, the colors separated into red and blue! #ChemistryFun 😄🔬 #CubNation
